Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 April 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Irshad mobile app and the website at irshad.app (together, the "Service"), operated by irshad.app ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (16 in the European Union / United Kingdom, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if higher). If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Your account

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules without notice.

4. Content and licenses

Our content. Course lessons, quizzes, graphics, and the compiled app are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial study on devices you own. We retain all intellectual property rights. The classical Islamic texts we draw from are public-domain; our translations, summaries, and curriculum structure are not.

Your content. When you post content in community features, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the Service. You keep ownership of what you post. You are responsible for your content, and you confirm you have the rights to share it.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Some features require a paid subscription, purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Pricing, billing cycles, and renewal terms are shown at the time of purchase.

6. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, or remove features, courses, or other parts of the Service at any time. We will not charge you more than what you already paid for a subscription period you already bought.

7. Termination

You can delete your account any time from the Settings screen or at /delete-account. Deletion triggers a 30-day soft delete during which sign-in is blocked; after 30 days the account is permanently purged. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that harms other users.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Irshad is an educational tool. Its lessons summarize classical texts and are reviewed by qualified scholars, but they are not a substitute for personal guidance from a teacher on matters of law (fiqh) or belief (aqeedah). Rulings on specific personal situations should be taken from a qualified scholar.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, irshad.app and its affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangibles, arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold irshad.app harmless from any claim or demand made by a third party arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or United Kingdom, you keep the protections of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If the changes are material we will notify you in-app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.
